When St. Patty’s Day rolls around every year, there’s only one thing on everyone’s minds, and unfortunately it’s not leprechauns and a big pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
McDonald’s Shamrock Shake has been around since 1970, and the world’s obsession with the shake has been going strong since then. Although it seems like the drink only has a handful of ingredients, it has 54. Yeah, that’s right — we counted. A couple can be pronounced, and the rest — from carrageenan, a possible carcinogen, to an artificial vanilla flavor that can possibly trigger migraines — are just plain disturbing. Oh, and there’s also the fact that a small drink starts at 470 calories while a large comes in at 820. Worth it? Probably not.
Luckily, there’s no need for animal products or other weird ingredients in a delicious Shamrock Shake. These recipes are wholesome, easy to make, and totally cruelty-free.
Believe it or not, this shake not only sneaks in some spinach, but avocado, too.
The combination of coconut cream and dates make for a perfectly sweet shake.
With real mint leaves for flavor, there’s nothing artificial about this healthy mix.
Thanks so much for including my shamrock shake!! It’s one of my kids favorites!
