If you’ve been on the internet lately, you’ve probably noticed something odd: there’s a giant chicken taking over everyone’s feeds. And yes, it’s 100% real.
It all started when Twitter user @LifesBook_CEO posted a video of an abnormally large chicken wandering around its coop, saying, “Am I the only person wondering why this chicken is so damn big?” Turns out the answer was “no” because it’s since gone viral, and everyone is wondering the same thing: what kind of chicken is it, anyway?
Although it looks like a chicken that ate 100 other chickens, that’s surprisingly not the case: this monster of a bird — which some people thought was a child dressed up in a costume — is actually a Brahma chicken. As crazy as it sounds, females are usually 14 pounds while males are a whopping 18. According to The Livestock Conservancy, they’re known as the “King of Poultry” and were originally the most in-demand breed of chicken in the late 1800s and early 1900s because one of them could feed an entire family. Today, we hope they solely continue being internet stars.
